While this award is not always awarded annually, the 2020 committee felt that the perfect candidate had been found for the COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

Given to a non-member of TDFS, this award recognizes the time and service given to our organization as it strives to raise scholarship dollars for our worthy graduating TUSD seniors.  Leticia Clark helped the Community become more acquainted with the role that TDFS plays in Tustin.  She can be seen at many of our events bringing along friends and family member to enjoy themselves.  For the last three years, she has been a "jockey" at the Original Derby Day event.  TDFS is always mentioned in her blogs and in her online newsletters.  She promotes the importance of supporting student scholarship with her personal donations.  As a member of the Tustin City Council and now Mayor she is seen all over Tustin.  She is a consummate supporter of TDFS's mission and goals.  TDFS is very proud to have her represent us with this award!

The Vera Crawford Award for outstanding Volunteer Service is awarded annually to a member who has offered hours and hours of dedicated service to TDFS.  Laurie and Jonathan Abelove have been volunteering at TDFS events for many years.  They are more famously known as our Original Derby Day announcers.

Between the two of them, event guests are treated to Jonathan's wry sense

of humor and Laurie's gracious comments on each of the jockeys and the race event happenings.  In addition, they come to help set up and clean up at events.  They bring friends and relatives with them.  They promote our message with other non-profits in Tustin.  They have been, simply said, everywhere when we have needed them, and we have been a lucky beneficiary.  TDFS is not the only Tustin non-profit that has benefitted from their time and talents.  Both are busy in their own lives, but always find the time to donate hours and service to all of us.  TDFS is very pleased to have dual-award winners this year!  We thank them both deeply for their generosity!
